BINOCULAR VISION DYSFUNCTION (BVD)

Smiling Woman Portrait_edited.jpg
Think of your visual system like a car’s steering and suspension.

When a car’s wheels are misaligned, every time you drive the vehicle, it wobbles, the steering feels loose, and the ride becomes rough. If you keep driving that out‑of‑alignment car, the tires wear unevenly, the suspension parts get stressed, and eventually the whole vehicle can suffer serious damage.

Your eyes work the same way. When the brain and the two eyes aren’t properly “aligned,” you can notice eye strain, visual fatigue, shaky or unstable vision, and a kind of visual anxiety, just like the car’s shaking. Continuing to force the misaligned visual system (for example, by spending long hours reading or staring at screens) can worsen the problem and lead to more persistent discomfort.

Just as you’d take a misaligned car to a mechanic right away to prevent costly repairs, it’s best to address Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD) early. With a functional eye exam for binocular vision problems and appropriate therapy, the visual system can run smoothly again.
